“Netiquette”
When writing your messages, please use the same courtesy that you would show when speaking face-to-face with someone. Insults and personal attacks will not be tolerated. It’s fine to disagree strongly with opinions, ideas, and facts, but always with respect for the other person. Great minds do not always think alike. Also, note that messages express the thoughts of the writers, not the board or its moderators.
Copy or Link?
To avoid copyright issues, please do not cut and paste entire stories from any online publication. A short excerpt and a link are acceptable. Whenever you use information from another website, you should provide a link back to that source.
Photos & Videos
Size matters! Images should be reasonably sized. Unless you own the image, it should be properly credited and a link provided to their source. Please do not “hotlink” the image from its source site. The image should be uploaded to TwoHarborsforum.
Videos are a whole different story. Please don’t upload them to the site. You may link to or embed from YouTube or similar sites.
- Take responsibility not just for your own words, but for the comments you allow on your blog.
- Label your tolerance level for abusive comments.
- Consider eliminating anonymous comments.
- Ignore the trolls.
- Take the conversation offline and talk directly, or find an intermediary who can do so.
- If you know someone is behaving badly, tell them so.
- Don’t say anything online that you wouldn’t say in person.
About free speech: There is no rule or law or divine authority that grants that priviledge here. When the sensibilities of the moderators are offended, or grossly inaccurate or inflammatory statements are posted, the offending articles and/or comments are likely to be removed.
